I am so tired of fighting these thieves! I've been fighting them all my adult life. I'm no romantic for yesteryear but there was a time in this country when the Moral Majority Tea Party Christian Extremists did NOT rule, when they were perceived as the minority fringe weirdos who made a lot of noise but were harmless, politically (because they made the rest of us gag!)
Yet now they are no longer the fringe. We liberals, we pansy-assed tree hugger peaceniks, didn't strangle the movement in its sleep when we had the chance. No, live and let live, we said.
We were wrong. We will soon pay the ultimate price for our stupidity.
Forgive me if I'm disagreeing with exaggerating rhetoric rather than a dearly held point, but the desire for an ideal (despite your protestations) time in the vague past compared to a things-worse-than-ever now seems a bit, well, Conservative to me. Also, are you suggesting adopting Tea Bagger techniques?
ReplyDeleteI don't really have any advice except not to get all angry since that's just letting a bunch of fringe weirdos who get a disproportionate amount of air time thanks to a certain "news" channel goad you into things. At least don't let that anger lead to rash actions. Remember me pityingly if you turn out to be a Casandra in this, but it almost always seems to be the end times for liberals when you're in Idaho.
