Let Bert and Ernie Get Married

A petition is online to let Bert and Ernie finally tie the knot.  They've been living together in an apartment on Sesame Street, IN SIN, for more than 40 years, now.

How much longer will we make them wait to be official, especially as same sex marriage is now legal in New York?  Show them some mercy!

  1. I understand it's a cute rallying point for gay marriage rights, but why does everything have to be rule 34ed? Why do people have sexualize characters on a kids' show?
I don't know. This whole mess is being caused by perverts who can't keep their imaginations off people's private lives in the first place. I honestly think if more anti-gay activists stopped spending most of their time vividly picturing men getting it on (you can tell by their tirades the ones that do)the world could focus on fixing real problems.

  2. "In sin" refers to individuals being in a *sexual* relationship without matrimony.
And if you look at the definition of rule 34 again, you'll see it has nothing to do with the original source- in fact the original pretty much has to be nonsexual for it to really apply. Of course Sesame Street never sexualized Bert & Ernie. I agree there should be gay couples along with the married couples, I just don't want it to be at the price of saying every relationship has to be sexual, which is what saying Bert & Ernie should marry implies.
